The History of Wyckoff Advertising (or how on earth we can say "since 1949")
Founded in 1949 as Wyckoff and Drew of LaGrange, Illinois, Wyckoff Advertising, Inc. is the descendant of a long line of visual communicators. The original name came from Roger Wyckoff and his brother-in-law, Robert Drew. The two partners, just out of college, following service in the Second World War, established a photography studio in the then-revolutionary Village Market, which was one of the the nation's first shopping centers. Wyckoff and Drew were generalists in the field of professional photography, doing weddings, portraits, industrial, fashion, sports, and advertising photography with equal enthusiasm. they were pioneers in the use of roll film for professional photography and also the use of the then ultra-new electronic flash. Installing one of the area's first in-studio "color labs" they were early adopters the then very difficult process of color film processing and printing.

In 1957, Lyons Township High School, then one of the largest high schools in Illinois, gave Wyckoff and Drew a contract to photograph the graduating seniors that required that they do all the photography associated with the yearbook. This entry into the publishing world gave impetus to a long gradual shift towards publishing and advertising. In 1960, Wyckoff and Drew parted company, Roger Wyckoff retaining the high school account and Robert Drew forming Drew and Associates, taking on commercial clients. Wyckoff Studio, under the proprietorship of Roger Wyckoff moved to new larger quarters in LaGrange.
By 1973, Wyckoff Studio had grown to be two businesses itself: Portraits and Commercial. The Commercial Division was specializing in producing four-color brochures, catalogs, and post cards. In that year, Thomas Wyckoff, fresh out of Drake University (BA Graphic Arts/Journalism) joined the firm and within 5 years was heading the Commercial Division as Chief Photographer/Writer. By 1980, the Portrait Division was sold to James Tweedie and Thomas Wagoner and incorporated as Wyckoff Portraits, Inc. Wyckoff Commercial, still owned by Roger Wyckoff and employing Thomas Wyckoff, Brian Bates, and Annette Vogt, focused exclusively on brochures, catalogs, and print advertisements.
In 1986, Roger Wyckoff sold Wyckoff Commercial to Thomas Wyckoff who ran the business as an ad agency. In 1990, Ellen Wyckoff joined the firm as art director and later became Vice President. In 1994, we moved the business to Wheaton and incorporated as Wyckoff Advertising, Inc. In January of 1996, a subsidiary, Jette Interactive, Inc. was incorporated to serve the growing need for Internet services in Northern Illinois. Today, both businesses flourish side by side at our modern facility in Wheaton, Illinois.
